Terms and Conditions
The conditions below of the Volksuniversiteit Gouda (Community College Gouda) apply to all the courses organised by the Volksuniversiteit Gouda. These terms and conditions are in accordance with the national agreements of the Union of Dutch Volksuniversiteiten (BNVU).
For courses you can also read lectures, workshops or guided walks/tours.
1. Enrolment and payment
You can register for a course online on the website of the Volksuniversiteit Gouda (www.vugouda.nl);
by filling in the registration form in our brochure or by sending an e-mail.
After receiving your registration form we will confirm receipt within days. No later than 2 weeks before the start of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance, provided that there are sufficient numbers of students for the course to go ahead. Announcements and information will come to you by e-mail. In the event that you do not have an e-mail address, then we will send this information by letter. We advise you to check this information thoroughly.
When you enrol you agree to a one-time direct debit transaction of the course fee. The course fee will be taken off your account some days before the start of the course. The course fee will only be collected if the course goes through.
Between the debit transaction of the Volksuniversiteit and the actual transfer of the course fee are up to 5 working days, in accordance with the new European SEPA direct debit standards. If you do not agree to
this, you can cancel the direct debit transaction by contacting your bank, no later than 8 weeks after the payment.
Should you wish to receive an invoice for your own company or for your
employer, then please state that clearly when you register. The Volksuniversiteit Gouda will see to that.
2. Start and changes of a course
If there is insufficient interest in a course, the Volksuniversiteit Gouda can decide to cancel it. In that case refunds will be made. The Volksuniversiteit also has the right to appoint a different teacher to a course from the one stated in the course programme. Students will be informed about such changes beforehand.
When you enrol, you commit yourself to a complete course and the full course fee is due. If for urgent reasons you cannot participate in a course, you will have to confirm this in writing, (by e-mail or letter to the administration) stating those reasons. The course fee will be refunded if you cancel your enrolment up to ten days before the start of the course. An administration fee of €12,50 will be retained.
If you are too late for a refund you may, however, allow someone else to take your place, after consultation with the administration. In the case of withdrawal after the deadline of up to 10 days before the start of the course, then you owe the full course fee.
Where appropriate, this also includes the costs for ingredients and or material, as stated in the course programme. A student who stops the course is not entitled to a refund of the unattended lessons. Exceptions will be made for long term illness, hospitalisation or bereavements in the immediate family. Evidence needs
to be provided. In those cases a refund is possible to a maximum of 50 % of the remaining lessons
